About Steve

Tales of a dad in his 50s who was inspired to sail to connect with his daughter.

Professionally: My name is Steve and I am a private investigator. I own and operate a process service and private investigation agency in Miami, FL.

Why I began Sailing: I have two beautiful and talented daughters. My youngest daughter is a golfer. I golf with her and I am her daddy-caddy for all her tournaments. My oldest daughter is an ILCA racer. I see her race in her regattas from my motorboat but this is not an activity that we ever do together. I have been a boater my entire adult life, but I have never sailed. My daughter loves it so much that I wanted to learn how to sail so we could have something to do together. I knew I wanted a sailboat that was a bit larger than her ILCA but it could not be too large so that it did not fit along the side of my house. I found this 1965 14-foot O’Day Javelin on Facebook Market Place. The price was right but it was 4 hours away. After a log road trip with my buddy Alex, and some negotiation with a real character, I pulled the trigger. Come along with me on this adventure.
